Halal Chips

We ran 1,875 chips through our halal rules: 24 pass, 12 need a label check, and 61 don't make it.

Plain salted crisps sail through. The trouble starts with flavour powders: cheese seasonings made with animal rennet, and the E631 and E627 flavour boosters, which can be sourced from pork. When a label only says 'flavouring', we mark the product uncertain rather than guess.

Check the label first

For these, the data is incomplete or an ingredient can go either way. We say so instead of guessing. Tap one to see exactly what's unclear.

Verdicts are automated checks based on Open Food Facts data. Formulations change, so always confirm on the physical label.
